Automation:: Louth version 11
Is anyone using Louth ADC100 version 11?

I recently upgraded from version 10 to 11 and was told that this is the greatest version ever only to experience really simple issues that was never in version 10.

Some such as:
-really slow entering and exiting review
-entire air client locks for about 5 minutes whenever I do a verify list against db
-some assets not properly verifying against db
-device server on the CHP chassis running XP will loose all devices in a air client or media client even though through the Config Utility I can see all devices.

Thanks for the info I'm sure this issue will come up with some users. The Avid’s I've worked with haven’t reached that amount of files yet.

AVIDS FROM HELL [by ShadeTek]

D.O.A:: AVIDS FROM HELL
Well, in the 90's, 99% of the Avids I installed had a faulty ABVB card in it. It got to the point I would order a replacement card a couple of days before an install to save a trip back out with a "repaired" one. Their main problem at that time in the U.K. was that the field engineers were not communicating the fault symptom back to Avid in Ireland. The engineers at Avid could not see a problem with it and shipped it back out ASAP. They eventually rectified this with tags and bags which helped a lot. I had one engineer who installed an Avid in Leeds, have to return it, the WHOLE kit, back to Avid with a fault which stopped it real-time rendereing. Anyhow, two days later he is in Edinburgh installing another Avid. Guess what got shipped to him!? The exact same Avid which never even got unboxed for testing. And to add the final woe of Avid, the very first Avid I installed after I became an ACSR was the Avid from HELL. EVERY bit of the kit was faulty. PC, ATTO card, graphics card, JPEG card, external frame PSU, missing cable and software. Talk about a budget job. Took me a month to get it going and eventually I had to ship the whole lot back. Good learning curve but one very unhappy customer.

I have to say the latest generation of hardware from Avid, the DNA break out boxes are a lot more reliable, with the exception if it is being used in an HD Symph Nitris. Poor ventilation will FRY the PSU with smoke and a bang and a delay as the replacement items are shipped from Holland. Party on.

Electronic Visuals Time code logger [by ShadeTek]

Wanted - For sale:: Electronic Visuals Time code logger
I have two minted EV timecode loggers for production. I will stick them on eBay unless some here wants to make me an offer. For those who do not know what they are, it is a hand held device recieves T/C from the camera via wire or wirelessly and this is then logged manually as good shot, bad shot, close wide etc on the device. The data is then d/l to a laptop using Phoenox Log Manager (ver3.0) and can be converted to an Avid .ALE file or an EDL for batch digitising. Not made anymore, hens teeth etc, I have the RF wireless kit and cables for one while the other has little cabling but I can make the data transfer cable up for you.

Tek.

Technicial Forum:: Fault to access the Minerva VNP-201
I don’t know how you would do a HW reset but you should call Minerva and see if they can help since this product end of life for support is December 2007. You still have some time left. Sorry I looked for a manual but could not find any. See this release from Minerva:

http://minervanetworks.com/images/VNP%20Announcement.pdf

VTR:: PVW-2650 picture hop
Really sorry for the delay in responding. I had hoped that at this point the site would have generated some more users who could have assisted. Oh well..

For your problem look at the following procedure:
http://www.broadcasttech.net/modules/wfsection/article.php?articleid=105

Note the last adjustment. This I believe will fix the problem. The tape that you will need, unfortunately, is the C5-1B tape.

"reel trouble" 03 error [by clueless]

VTR:: "reel trouble" 03 error
Hi, I appear to be too stupid to even post a new subject, I don't see how to do it.

I am not a vid professional, though I am generally OK with computers and electronic stuff as a fairly techy user. But have little experience with the old betacam decks... yet I need to transfer a bunch of old tapes to digital. Having fits with the decks available. Getting a "reel trouble" 03 error from the PVW-2600 after a little play on any and all tapes.... I did look that up on the site, great resource, though I have no idea how to actually fix it.

That leaves me with a borrowed BTC brand recorder which I think is a the the equivalent of a sony BVW 75 or so... a beefy betaSP player/recorder. But there doesnt' seem to be a component signal coming out of the component2 BNC jacks. Are they switchable somehow, or just broken, do you think? The guy who lent it doesn't know and I don't have a manual for it.

Thanks, and feel free not to respond; I realize I'm probably breaking protocol by not posting correctly. As noted, I haven't been able to figure out how.

which makes my user handle pretty appropriate....

many thanks

dw
